La Seconda Guerra Mondiale in 3D: intervista a Johan Andersson su HoI3

In esclusiva per BloP, abbiamo avuto l’occasione di scambiare qualche parola con Johan Andersson, Developing Man della Paradox. Avevamo qualche curiosità su HoI3, in attesa della sua uscita, e abbiamo approfittato per chiedergli cosa bolle nel pentolone! A voi il testo integrale in inglese!
SASY) Hallo Johan, you’re welcome! Thank you for your kindness! JOHAN) Here we are! S) Let’s start with some questions about HoI3, we’re really curious to know more about it! For example, will it be possible to settle an administrative system at a only-regional level? J) I’m not sure what you mean with an administrative system, but there are things that are handled at region levels, and some at province and some at country. S) About naval stuff, will we have special units like the italian MAS? J) No, there will not be special units. We have to simulate the entire worlds type of units. S) Will ships be upgradable or modernized in a certain way? J: Some parts of ships can be upgraded, but obviously not main things like hulls. S) Similarly, will it be possible to convert mercantile ships in war ones, as it really happened for the italian aircraft carriers Aquila and J) No. S) Will veteran divisions gain more experience to rise moral of other divisions with whom they are fighting? J) No. S) Will helicopters be able to fly over short sea spaces or not to suffer for any land characteristics? J) No. S) Ouch! J) No, this is a strategic game, not a tactical game. S) Are you implementing some kind of sea mines, to be put to defend coasts? J) Same as before, this is a strategic game, so the answer is no S) Ok! Within diplomacy game, will HoI3 distinguish between neutrality and non-belligerence? J) Well, the new diplomatic game has quite a few new variables that impact it. Will it be a difference in these two, I’m not sure yet. S) Is HoI3 only being developed in 3D or might we play also in 2D? J) Full 3d. S) About the triangle Axis-Allies-Comintern illustrated in your development diary, Johan, will it be possible to edit it with events or modding? For example to simulate new world during cold war, or something similar. J) It is 100% moddable, and you can do as many factions you want in a user mod. S) Having put Limone Piemonte as a province, will other small but important realities, like Zara, Pondicherry, Goa, Tangiers International Area or Kangwuam, have their own geopolitical space? J) It depends if its needed for the gameplay or not. S) About geography as we can see it in your development diary, we’re wondering if some provinces will change its shape to be adapted to geographic elements like rivers or mountains. Will it be? J) Same answer as #13. Shapes of provinces may be changed if its better for gamebalance. S) Also military ships like battleships and aircraft carries will be able to carry convoys? J) No, only transports can carry troops. This is a balance issue. S) Will strategic bombing be more effective? Now in two months after bombing attack, enemy forces seem to rise up again, so investing in bombing is not so useful, while on the contrary it really was in storical reality. J) We’ve reworked the bombing warfare completely. However, the results of bombings was not that important in ww2, it was more the fact that it forced the enemy to commit fighter protection that made it succesful. S) It’s clear, Johan! Let’s change game: Rome! We enjoyed a lot Vae Victis, because it’s very detailed and historically deep. Actually, these detailes are obviously focused on Rome, and if I play with Greece, for example, I have to issue the same law that romans did, and not a specific greek law: it isn’t realistic though :P. Have you ever thought about adding other nations’ specificities? J) We thought alot about it, and maybe it is something we’ll do or the future.
S) About EU3, instead, our users didn’t like much the fact that NA was required to play IN. Will this policy go on in the future? J) Yes. All add-ons will always require the previous one. S) Will we have a released patch soon for some bugs like freezing if a new nation borns? (new nations haven’t got a specific culture and it makes a bug which now is manually resolved) J) Depends when we have anything ready. S) Our great CK and VIC fans are claiming for a sequel of their favourite games! What can you tell them? J) Nothing I am afraid. We have no games in development other than HoI3 atm.
